

In 2011, Vietnam’s wood chip exports set a record with 5.4 million tons, making Vietnam the largest exporter of this commodity in the world, superseding Australia.
The exporting of Hybrid Eucalyptus and Acacia Wood Chips from Vietnam has increased more than 10 times in the past decade. In 2001, the country exported only 400,000 tons of wood chips.
Exports in 2011, were 36% higher than in 2010 and more than tripled since 2007.
Australia was the largest wood chip supplier in the world for nearly 20 years, now has ceded this position to Vietnam for shipments that account for 20% of global trade in wood chips in 2011.
The production and export of wood chips bring benefits to Vietnam in the recovery tree byproducts that have no market value from wood that is bent, buckled or cracked, or from wood from trees under 10cm diameter.
Wood chip production also creates greater capacity in idle processing plants. Other benefits are the promotion of intensive rotation on forest land; increased labor income for farmers. Some unmarketble wood is for by artisans in making things from potentail wasts intorevenue s earned for the country, good for business investment in this area.
Woodchips are a medium-sized solid material made by cutting, or chipping, larger pieces of wood. Woodchips may be used as a biomass solid fuel and are raw material for producing wood pulp.
The usage and pallications for wood chips as an organic mulch in gardening, landscaping, restoration ecology and mushroom cultivation.

In 2010, export revenue of wood chips was $15 million USD
2011 revenue from export of wood chips was estimated at $19 million USD
2012 is estimated to reach $25 million USD
In 2013: expected production shhould reach 250,000 tons dry (BDMT), equivalent to 400,000 tons were expected revenue will be $35 million USD
